Nevada Security Officials Travel to Israel on ADL Mission

  • PDF
A delegation of 20 law enforcement officials, American security personnel and businessmen from Nevada traveled to Israel in May 2006 for an Anti-Defamation League homeland security mission.

The delegation received on-site tours and briefings from representatives of the Israeli National Police on counterterrorism techniques and how they might apply to Nevada.
The mission included the Special Agent-in Charge of the FBI’s Las Vegas Office, the Chairman and Director of the Nevada Commission on Homeland Security, the Deputy Chief of Las Vegas Metro Police and the Chief of Las Vegas Schools Police Department.
In addition to law enforcement, the unique mission included the CEOs of the state’s power company, transportation authority and water district, the head of the world renowned Desert Research Institute, and the director of security for a large casino operator.

The delegation visited Jerusalem’s Malha Mall, which has been targeted in the past by Palestinian terrorists, for an on-sight look at mall protection and to learn Israeli defense methods.  The group also visited Hadassah Hospital’s trauma unit and the main power station in Israel.  Israeli security officials briefed the delegation on how Israel protects its vital national infrastructures from attacks and shared screening measures employed at the international air port.

The mission was under the auspices of ADL’s Las Vegas Regional Office and Israel Office.
